Humanities & Social Science
Australian Curriculum programs have been developed for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Humanities & Social Sciences. The courses have been constructed in order to establish and develop purposeful links between the two disciplines which enables students to develop both their skills and knowledge in depth. Students of HASS within the G&T Online program, by necessity, become independent and self-motivated learners.
HASS covers History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship , Economics. These are a term course each. HASS modules cover the same topics as mainstream courses but at a greater level of understanding and rigour. For example, all year nine students study World War one, but the knowledge and understanding of the topic is far more significant within G and T classes. More concepts can be covered in the same amount of time because of the abilities of the students. This also allows for students to be involved in some of the major competitions that are available. HASS students have had major successes in both the Premier’s ANZAC Student tour competition and the National History Competition in the last six years.
