GT Online Residential Educational Camp – November 2021
To anyone who is unfamiliar with the camp experience, it is a sensational week. The family you find is truly exceptional, and I for one know we have all made bonds for life. Everyone is so welcoming and there is something and someone for everyone. Camps lays the foundation for a certain type of chemistry unachievable anywhere else. The teachers, facilities and activities are all amazing and make for a great week away.
To start the week, we had team games and icebreakers which rekindled past relationships and helped build new ones between current and future students. The staff at Point Peron were very helpful during these activities. Next, we had a games night, which was definitely eventful.
On Tuesday, there was a focus on Maths and English studies. As a humanities student I can’t speak for the maths, but the workshops and seminars held for the English students were fascinating. On Tuesday night, fire alarms rang and we were all sent to the oval. The phrase ‘building character’ was thrown around a lot. Wednesday held a trip to Penguin Island, followed by some free time, and yoga and mindfulness. And another fire alarm.
On Thursday, HASS exams and science experiments were sat before heading to Siena’s for a graduation dinner. After the graduation ceremony, we all headed back to camp.
On a more personal note, whether it was playing cricket with play doh, laughing up chocolate milk or simply travelling on a bus; every moment on camp was fun. Despite the intense scheduling, you can never truly anticipate what your day will hold.
Camp was the best.
